Our house starts with this existing structure-- a former warehouse, 20 years old, which will be given a second level. On the first level will be the living room, dining room, kitchen and one bathroom. On the second will be two bedrooms (a future nursery and the masters' bedroom plus masters' bath) plus my private office, and my husband's private office (which can both double as guest rooms). So from this, we create our new home with the great help of my husband's dad whose experience with construction spans about 35 years.

So today we did the traditional foundation laying ceremony (well, it was just my husband, my father in law, and myself but let's call it that) wherein we threw coins during the course of pouring the cement into the steel foundation footing for the additional concrete posts. It is believed to bring good fortune and abundance to the future occupants of the house. We hope it truly brings good fortune since we threw Singapore dollar coins into the concrete instead of our local coins because the former has higher currency value, haha! :-)
